Creating value for people, planet and business by connecting, digitizing and optimizing buildings
One of the top cyber threat management company in Europe
About the project
When we were approached by the client, they were looking for front-end developers to join their internal team and help them develop the platform visualizing the buildings’ energy consumption at a detailed level. In the first phase of the project, the main focus was to build a Proof of Concept. After that, we were working on several modules, implementing the designs provided by the client, testing the application, and helping to maintain it.
Our tasks
Front-end development in several modules of the platform
At different stages of the project, we’ve been working on different modules of the platform, including dashboards, admin panel, and resource databases.
Manual and automated testing
After every major release, we have been following different testing scenarios in various environments to make sure that everything works smoothly for the end-users.
Supporting the client’s internal team
In the meantime, we were supporting the client’s team, working on some features in other modules, or fixing bugs.
Neoteric developers worked as full members of the Egain development team. All deliveries were according to plan with good quality. One of the most important things for Egain customers is to save energy which translates directly into saving money. Recently, we released a brand new module, the Energy Target feature, to help customers in detail with this task. One of Egain’s largest customers has already given very good feedback on the implementation of this new module.

Challenges
1. Maintenance of different devices across different buildings
2. Showing the end-users the value they get

3. Developing the product that is present in many markets with different language options
4. Joining the client’s team as a remote team extension
We’ve started our cooperation with the visit to Egain’s HQ in Kungsbacka. We got a chance to meet the whole team and participate in the workshops, which allowed us to learn how the system worked, how it integrated with different devices, and also to understand the company's vision, mission, and goals. It helped us better understand the challenges they were facing, the expectations. The visit ended with creating the first Proof of Concept of one of the modules and it turned out to be a great basis for further cooperation.

Clear dashboard allowing efficient energy consumption monitoring
With the dashboard, users who have different roles (experts, building administrators) are able to monitor energy consumption across different buildings, using multiple sensors that can be managed and optimized remotely to ensure the highest efficiency.
Measurable value for the end-users
With the reports generated in the panel, the administrators of the buildings can easily calculate the profitability of the investment measured with the metric of their choice. They can calculate how long it will take to see the return of investment, how much savings it will generate over time, calculate the lifetime value of the investment (considering the lifespan of different elements that may require to be replaced after some time, inflation, maintenance costs, etc.). Additionally, they can see the summary of all the investments with diagrams showing their impact on energy consumption along with the forecasts for future energy consumption.
Efficient maintenance of the devices
As all the information coming from different sensors and collectors is presented on one dashboard, the energy experts are able to optimize energy consumption by adjusting their settings (remotely!), detect problems at a very early stage, and get them fixed.
Working with Egain is a great experience for our team! Sustainability is an important trend of the past years and it’s very satisfying to develop a product that has such a huge impact on the environment. On top of that, I think we have a really good culture fit with their internal team which makes working on this project even more enjoyable.
